The thought first came to me when I parked my Ranger next to an old 30's GMC panel truck. They seemed close in overall length and width.
The second time I thought of it was when I compared a model of the Ranger to a Model A pickup both in the same scale.
Then I did a little research. Here's the dimensions I found
2008 Ranger:
OAL 189.4 inches
OAW 69.3 inches (No mirrors)
Height 66.2 inches
Bed Width 40.5 inches between wheel wells
Bed Length 72.7 inches
Bed Depth 16.5 inches
1930's Model A pickup
OAL 159 13/16 inches (160)
OAW 53 15/16 inches (54) not including Fender Measurements
Height 69 1/2 inches
Bed Width 40 3/4 inches
Bed Length 55 inches (looks longer on the model)
Bed Depth 13 inches
Link to the Ranger's dimensions
And the link where I got the Model A dimensions
With the regular cab Ranger being longer yet shorter in height and possible the same width when the fenders of the Model A included in its measurements, I say they are really close.
Thank goodness we got more room in the cab.
