If anyone could shed some light on why my steering is making a creaking sound when I turn the steering wheel either way. I don't feel any extra movement side to side nor do I feel anything grinding. I only hear like a creaking sound. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Sorry to pull up an old thread, but did you ever find the cause? I'm getting very similar sounds now, but its accompanied by loss of power assist. I was thinking of just replacing the pump, lines, and maybe rebuilding the steering box, but was wondering if some bearings might be going or something on the steering shaft?

Thanks!

The last time I saw a problem like this it was a dry ball joint that was almost to the point of seizing.
