i have a 69 f250 with a 390 with a 2bbl carb what other stock intakes will fit to put a 4 bbl on someone told me 390 did not come with 2bbls so my must be an oddity. would a intake off of a 360 fit or what the engine was rebuilt about 25 years ago and stll runs fine.:3gears::icon_confused:
 
Anything, in the Fe series that is 4 barrel will fit, 390s did come with 2 barrel intakes, I don't think there were any 4 barrel 360s
 
The intakes on fe block are a little more involved because the push tubes go through the intake. If you get a 429 intake or some others the ports may be taller than the 390 heads but thats a rare problem as those types of manifold are hard to find and really spendy.

I believe you're talking about the 427 and maybe the 428 intakes. The 429/460 has nothing in common with the FE blocks.
 
yeah the cobra jet is a 428. sorry ill double check next time.
 
There is also a 429 CJ and SCJ. Those are 385 series engines and do not have anything in common FE engines. The 390 is an FE engine and they did come with 2 barrel and 4 barrel carburetors. I think the 2 barrel carb 390 was more common. There are also many after market 4 barrel carb manifolds for the FE engines, like an aluminum Edlebrock. It should not be difficult finding a 4 barrel manifold for you 390.

The 428 CJ intake manifold should fit a 390 but would be expensive and you would not be able to use the full capability of it without doing some kind of flow work on your heads. A standard 428 intake manifold should be less expensive because it is not as desirable as far as I know. All the 427 intakes should work but would also be expensive.
 
Theres good advice. Keep your eye out at the junk yards. Its a fun conversion youll be smiling when its done.
