I'm finally getting things back together and was looking at the engine the other day when I noticed something odd...the mount for the accelerator cable used to clear the brake booster by at least an inch or more on my old truck...now it's less than an inch and I"m sure it would smack the booster if the engine did a wobble...

The question is...is it it possible for the engine to be installed too far left or right even thought the mounts and everything were 'factory' setup?

I might be able to move it to the left (towards passenger side) a bit...haven't tried that yet...not sure how they align these things...

TIA.

Just checked the mounts and there is no room to move either left or right...very strange...same engine and booster...same intake and carb...

different cab...no clearance...

might have to either look for another booster (I have the 6" booster) or mod the cable bracket...

Well the cab can move quite a bit on ITS mounts. You did a cab swap? Thats your problem, the engine mounts, like you say, dont have much if any room for adjustment. The body mounts, however, have LOTS of movement - booster is attached to cab.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!~

:icon_bounceblue:

That makes perfect sense...I still haven't torqued the bolts on so I should be able to slide the body an inch or so...

Thanks so much...you just saved me from a great deal of frustration...

I'm actually using the same cab on the original frame...the motor was transplanted but the cab was completely removed from the frame to do a restore/refinish...when I remounted it (with $600 worth of OEM mounts) I guess I might have set it down just a bit too much to the left...

I was going to do a 2" body lift on it so I didn't bother to tighten everything down until I decided what to do...now I'm glad I didn't go ahead with that...

Ya I figured that was the issue! When I removed my cab, I forgot to mark where it was. So I spent a few hours just measuring and making sure it was in the proper position and sqaure and theres alot of adjustability there.

When I removed my cab it didn't seem like there was (or should be) much adjustment on them...the holes aren't those slots that allow left/right adjustments so I figured as long as I could see the holes lined up it should be correct...

I'd imagine that just a slight angle on one of those bolts (or all of them probably in my case) could result in something not lining up...

I was just about to go to the JY and look for a shorter booster since modifying the throttle cable mount didn't seem like a good option...

Thanks again...experience is the best teacher...:)
