alright I think I am going to do a v8 swap I have a couple questions though.
1. who makes a header tube that is 1 5/8 inch primary that will work?
the heddman's are 1 1/2inch primaries.
2. with the motor plates in the sticky are they for all the ranger mounts or only the 4.0?
3. some of the people on here have put a t-5 behind the v8 and I am wondering what you did for clutch linkage? I would like to use the mustang cable setup cause I have some of the stuff.
I am going to start gathering parts now and start on it this fall if everything goes well.
Thanks Duane

ok I was hoping for some help but as usual getting a technical answer on a performance question is like pulling teeth. thanks anyways

I read your question yesterday, and again today, but I have no answers for you. I think some guys only log in once every two or three days, so give em some time. I've gone a week or two before without logging in lol... hang in there, and good luck :icon_cheers:

!. Dougs makes Tri-Ys with a 1 5/8 primary but still a 2.5" collector. Any Fox body Mustang shorty (or other style) should be easy enough to modify if that's your thing. There's a guy here that used a Mustang shorty on his '98+, but reworked the steering linkage. Yes, I'm aware that is a different animal.

2. My advice? Skip the plates and use a fox/sn95 mount. But many use plates with success. The Fox mount is just very straightforward.

3. Using a cable setup has proven troublesome for most. GSparton has used a cable succesfully, involved modifying the pedal assembly and firewall. http://www.rangerpowersports.com/fo...5.html?258355-Hello-From-Alabama=#post2228184
I can't see a cable working with tri-y headers (if you were leaning that way) due to clearance. I measured to possibly use a pull slave, based on the cable holder in the T5 belhousing, and there is no room there.
Plenty of example of excellent working hydraulic setups. The original build thread in my sig outlines my clutch.

Was in no hurry to give my opinions to your questions as everything I said steers you away from your original ideas. Didn't want to be "that guy'.

I wasn't trying to be an impatient jackwad but I seen 34 people read it but not one single response.
teddyzee I appreciate the info. I am not afraid of opinions if I ask for them, even if I don't like them. I only ask so I can learn.
I really want to run a 5 spd. it just seems like a much more fun way to drive.
and I really want to make the truck corner better as well but that is down the road.

i dont see the running a 5 speed being an issue but yes running the cable style clutch will probably be a problem. Just run a hydraulic clutch, it seems thats what most everybody else does.

O.K. folks I spent the day @ the wrecking yard looking for parts to start this project. ain't nothing more fun
So far I have this to start out:
t-5 out of an 93 mustang (still need a bell housing),an 16 electric fan, radiator out of a sho taurus(it maybe to small but it was free and my buddy used it in his stang with a 347 so I hope it works)
I found a expy with 3.73/posi and discs, but before I buy it I want to make sure it will work as I am using a flip kit right now and I want to keep close too my ride height.
I have access to a 351 pan and pick up and maybe even the 351 itself.
but I am thinking a 302 would be better for this I will see.
but one question has anyone tried long tube headers for a 93 mustang cause I can get a set for next to nothing?
I am getting excited about this

The Ex reared will be close to the same height, maybe an inch and a half lower.
It will 1.5" wider on each side. That may be an issue, Depending
On your wheels.

UPDATE:stuff I got so far.
holley red pump, 650 dp, 16'' electric fan with therm. switch, advanced adapters install kit withe plates and mounts,a t5.
Stuff I NEED:
an engine( I found a good explorer motor complete for $600),a v8 bell housing for the t5,a different radiator the one I was going to use won't work, the oil filter relocation kit, headers(I am going to try 93 mustang headers,I will see how they fit and notch the frame accordinglly... I hope.lol),I am going to use a dual in dual out manaflow muffler, and I still need to address the rear end issue but one step @ a time.
