ok so i have 2 rangers... a 93 and a 84 im takin the 93 to a local shop cause i lost my brakes but the 84 i dont want to take to a shop i want to get it running by my own... when you get her warmed up she has a skip to her... if it was a 2 cyl it would be on the #2 fire so i would be missin 3 im a row i geuss.. or its like its chokein for gas or something... but you can sit and revv it like a mother... its areally nice truck and i would just like to see it running again any help would be great its a 2.8 out a 85... i've posted this in a few spots and noting really hit, i got loads of new parts

fuel filter, cap, rotor and im workin on a fuel pump and a carb rebuild kit.

My dads had the same problem when it got up to high rpm. Turned out the choke was broke and it was getting to much fuel, his is a manual choke and the bracket he made bent on him.

ya my ranger was acting up, kinda like a skip to it and it sounded like a miss fire in one of my cylinders. so i went to replace my spark plugs and they were pretty much shot, so i replaced all of them and it started running like normal. So you might want to check the plugs.

well i have the dual tanks and all that and when i switched it to the rear( a smaller tank) it ran great! i was like what the heck? so i think the sending unit or something is plugged up in the larger (front) tank. but it also did this when it was warm out( like 50-70*) now its about 20 to 30... and it runs fine? think it would be running on the fat side?

probably more along the lines of you hav something in the fuel in the other tank perhaps varnish from setting up or you pumped some water from somewhere. my 93 fi 3.0 v6 was picky like that, you added a trickle of water it was misfire from hell, pull the fuel filter and sure enuff has water in it. when you say you switched tanks and it runs fine that makes me think you hav a quality of fuel issue. crappy/stopped up fuel pump makes sense as well if they are seperate tanks w/ seperate pumps. not sure on the older ranger tanks but i kno in the early 90s model f250s w/ dual tanks the fuel pump had a strainer screen on it and if it was stopped up it would do the same again quality of fuel issue, had to drop a tank of bad fuel and change the fuel pump for that tank because of that b4 in the past for a friend. just my .02

im not really sure, i need a carb ore a rebuild kit for it, it leaks really bad, its not my DD right now, i just use it for hauling wood...
