Oil?

Well since I haven't drove my ranger for two months or so I was making sure everything was ok with it the other day. I wanted to check and see if I had an oil leak because when I was driving my ranger before the low oil light would come on about every two weeks or so. Well I jacked up the truck and started it and I noticed a little tiny puddle of oil on the ground after letting it set for about 10 minutes. So I go under the truck and see a tiny little bit of oil coming out of the tailshaft of the transmission. It is coming out of the seal back there. Now why would that be oil? Keep in mind my truck is an automatic.

So are you thinking they just put regular oil in the tranny or they put some off the shelf crappy atf in it and it just turned dark brown in color? I will smell it the next time I go out there and check it and see if it smells like tranny fluid over oil.

All ATF will turn brown if it's run long enough.
