I have a 05 level 2, what oil weights and kind should i use in the difs and transfer case? Planning on doing it soon and i dont have a manual yet.

Diffs = 75w-90
Transfer Case = ATF
Transmission (auto or manual) = ATF

Really simple. My sugestion is to use a full synthetic, but any regular oil works too. Pick the brand you like and then find the correct lube type/weight.

Ok thanks, also no additive goes in the rear end like with the normal clutch tpe lsd does it? And how much will i need to buy?

With torsen diffs, they are gear driven and not friction. So no additives are needed. For the diffs, it should take almost 3 quarts each. Transfer case should be almost 3 quarts. And for a manual trans, almost 3 quarts. Don't know how much for an automatic trans.

Filling to level on diffs, transfer, and manual are all the same. Drain till empty and refill them till the oil level is up to the bottom of the fill hole (or spills out). One suggestion to make the job easier. When at the parts store, pick up an oil bottle pump.

Are you sure 75w-90 cause my manual told me to use 75w145 on mine or is that only for explorer diffs w/ls

Transfer Case = ATF

Use T-case fluid in the T-case. Ford makes an actual, specially formulated Transfer case fluid. It's mostly ATF, but it has a few things that let it shift and work better.

NOTE: DON'T GET T-CASE FLUID IN AN AUTO TRANS!!!!

I've seen the results. It ain't pretty. Don't smell good either, think week old dead skunk, in July, covered in cow crap, on fire.

On Page 234 of the 2005 Owners Manual, it states that the rear axle lubricant for the FX4 Level II should be "SAE 75W-140 Synthethic rear axle lubricant" 5.25 - 5.5 pints

front axle lubricant is SAE 80W90, 3.6 pints regardless of model.

Transfer case flud is Mercron ATF, 1.25 quarts regardless of model

TSB from 2008ish (Don't remember the exact number) states that T-case fluid supersedes ATF as the fluid spec for all transfer cases going back well into the 80s. Back to the days when there used gear oil in them.
