Oil Question...

Motorcraft is by far the best filter for the money.

There is no reason to change perfectly good synthetic oil, just because you change the filter, and as long as you DO change the filter, then it wont have 5,000 miles of dirt.

I realize that there is a big "screw the environment" attitude around here, but unless you're sure that your used motor oil is being recycled, then you are adding to a real problem.

Reducing the amount of oil that you use just makes good sense.

I've thought of that but I figure if I'm under the truck anyway I might as well just drain the oil too. It's only another $20.
I save my used oil in a 5 gal container and when it gets full I take it to the county recycling center. Got 5 vehicles in my house plus my parents' 2 cars, so I change a lot of oil. My folks both have Cadillacs, which hold 7.5 quarts, or 50% more oil than most cars. Mom does not put on a lot of miles plus it sits in the garage here when they go to Florida for the winter, so I just do it once a year after they leave. Dad's Cadillac runs synthetic (Mobil 1 if he buys it, Pennzoil Platinum if I do) and we go 10,000 to 12,000 miles on it. Got a couple UOA's, it's fine with that.
