Getting ready to replace the oil pump in my truck and want to make sure I have all the required parts. I was told I will need to replace the oil galley plug too but cannot find a listing for one anywhere. Do I really need to replace this plug? If so where can I get one?

I can't imagine why you would need to replace that, it looks like it's at the rear of the block behind the flywheel...

I'm not sure why it needs to be replaced either, but according to the TSB Ford released it should be replaced when doing the oil pump. IIRC it was revised to include a pressure relief valve. I thought the plug was on the front of the engine.

I know I can't be the only one with oil pump issues. I not sure why there is so little info on this oil plug.

actually most of the time the oil pump isn't the problem, it's the pickup screen being packed with goo that makes them loose oil pressure.

I put the stock oil pump from my engine that had roughly 200k on it in my turbo engine, it's pickup screen was nearly plugged with goo, I'm still running that pump after another ~20k miles and it still idles at 20psi with nearly 50psi at highway speeds

that's most of the reason you aren't getting answers
