oil pressure

why do i loose oil pressure when the engine is warn and at a stop, its like the guage bottoms out on me. i put a new oil pump and screen about a year ago, when i am driving the pressure seems fine. i have a 86 2.9 with auto tranny. am i hurting the engine by driving it like that.

put a real gauge in it, the stock gauge is worthless.
