I installed mine dry as per the instructions. Then did the pedal to the floor method to prime the tensoners.

Make sure the ports in the head that feed the tensioners is clear. They sometimes get clogged up from schmutz in other parts of the engine.

We never changed the tensioners or chain guides as maintenance, if they weren't noisy we were happy. It would be an expensive job and trying to sell it when it isn't in the maintenance guide would have been considered a shady practice for a dealer. I never saw a timing chain replaced on a 2.9 or 4.0 OHV and I worked at the dealer through 2017.

This thread is getting confusing on who is asking what on the tensioners and engine type.

The timing chain tensioner change only applies to the 4.0 SOHC. The others don’t have that need, if they even have them.
