Hello,
I have a '88 Ranger with a 2.9L motor but was swapped by the previous owner for an '86 or '87. The oil pressure light is on but the older motor only accommodates a gauge type oil pressure sending unit. Will the '88 sending unit w/o the bell type housing fit in place of the older style and will it turn the annoying oil pressure light off? Thanks.

yes it should interchange easily.

they are both 1/8 NPT

one is a variable resistor, the other is a switch you need to tell theparts guy which one you have, light or gauge.

hope yours isn't like mine: I have coolant pressure idiot light.
