is there any chance that the oil filter is making my oil pressure gauge to "wake up late"??:icon_confused: every time i start the truck in cold, the oil pressure gauge stays dead, and the check gauges light stays on, when i start driving and the engine warms up the needle jumps to normal, and the check gauges goes off. My mechanic first recomended me to use an motorcratf oil filter, not other crappy a** brand( very common where i live) because the original oem filter made by motorcraft has some kind of valve inside so the filter keeps some oil in the interior, and the cheap ones dont have this so the filter takes more time to get full of oil, and thats why the gauge takes more time to go to the normal area. once the engine warms up the gauge works fine:icon_confused:

thanks!!:icon_thumby:

cheap filters such as fram, penzoil, and others have been known to cause oil pressure problems in ford (and other) vehicles. my first step would be to replace the cheapo with a quality WIX or motorcraft filter.

its very possible that your sender is on its way out and there is no real pressure problem...but its not worth the risk. id varify the pressure with a real gauge ASAP.

ok thanks, first im gonna replace the filter and tell my mechanic to check the pressure to see if everything is ok, if it continues, then im gonna have to buy the sender:(

i agree with the sender being the possible issue, my 2001 5.0 explorer does the same thing. since it shows no other signs of an oil pressure problem, i have suspected the sender. if you replace yours let us know of the results!

Its your sending unit most likely!
Mine done the samething and I replaced it and have had no trouble since. If you do a good search its a pretty common thing that goes wrong in cold weather.
Ive never heard of a cheap oil filter causing that ive always used cheapest thing either fram or purolator and ive never had issues.

ooh i see, i must check the sender then, its too difficult to replace??
i will post any result
