I have a 87 ranger STX with the 2.9. i got a sunpro gauge cluster and im trying to figure out where on the engine block to hook the oil pressure gauge to. it mechanical, with a oil line goin right to the gauge. but my truck doesnt have a stock Oil psi gauge. so it doesnt have the regular oil pressure sending unit that looks like a little bowl. so does anyone know where to hook it into then? :dunno:

The oil pressure port on the 2.8 is behind and under the power steering pump on the drivers side toward the front. If it is electrical it will have one wire going to it or a oil line for the mechanical one. they normally have a single wire 90 degree fitting like the one for the temp sender.

i would like to know

as well i have the guage and dont see that switch so what now??

when i bought my truck I installed a dual remote filter setup and it uses two full size ford oil filters. When I installed the remote mount, I also screwed in an oil sending unit so I could use an oil pressure gauge. Just a thought.
The remote oil unit has several available holes to use for oil sending units.

You have to have a sender somewhere under there.
My cardomain page has a pic of my dual setup, not a good pic but it has one.

You don't have to drain the crankcase, the sender port is above the pan and it wont leak but a bit of oil out especially if you work on it cold and all the oil is drained back.

A pipe T and some teflon tape is all that is needed to adapt for your aftermarket oil guage. Be sure to protect that little oil line that runs inside to the guage. An oil leak in that will make a big mess in a hurry if it gets pinched or broken, not to mention what that does to engines if undetected.

Good luck
