My oil pressure gauge keeps going from normal to low normal to low normal to low.....could the gauge just be going bad...I have bought an aftermarket gauge to install, but I was just curious if the factory ones go bad?

maybe is not the gauge, maybe the sender unit, i have some issues with mine too, it goes dead when the truck is cold, once the engine warms it works fine. check your sender unit first

did you get a manual gauge?
if so pick up some plastic wire loom to run the line thru.

Yeah I got a manual gauge...but I also bought copper tubing so I won't have to use the plastic tubing....do I still need the plastic wire loom?

and protects the line from getting a hole rubbed in it (insurance).
don't like the copper line,Ive used the plastic line for more than 20 years in almost as many vehicles with no trouble.

once i used a oil pressure gauge but mine was electric i just replaced the bulb with the needle gauges bulb and connectedthe wire, its easier to do :)

Easier to do, but you essentially have the same guage as the stock unit. If I can have a mechanical unit, I would much rather use it than have an electrical sensor telling me what it thinks the pressure is.

I put in a mechanical guage with the plastic tubing over 2 years ago and it's still working fine.
