i have a 1996 ranger 3.0L and it has 104,000 on it and recently the oil pressure gauge has been moving alot. it never used to move but now, when i push on the gas off like a stop light, the oil pressure goes down low. Does anybody know what is happening? Please let me know. Thanks

My bet is on electronics! Either voltage or grounds or even a bad sender or sender clip! Check out the lectrics and you should be good to go.

The sending unit is on the block behind the passenger side head.

check connection area before change this parts or turned out to be the oil pump pick up tube. with was clogged and wasn't pumping any oil. i hope that's not the case with yours, because you have to pull the motor to pull the pan.
the result of not changing your oil has all the milage required by the manufacturer
I guess you could drain your oil and check for metal shavings
It wouldn't be ticking if it was just a faulty sender.

when it is idling, the gauge jumps around a little bit. When i take off the oil pressure gauge goes down, then i let off the gas, it goes back up.

Maybe stupid question but have you checked the oil level? It looks like the oil is sloshing to the back of the oil pan and below the pick-up screen.

cluster(tachymeter) suspect ...Second: strike a blow up back finger on the cluster see if needle moves well see the problem continues
