oil on head gaskets?

when I pulled the head off there was oil between cylinders 2 and 3, what does that mean?

also I thought the head was cracked that's why I pulled it but I don't see a crack.

the reason I thought it was cracked is because it leaks coolant on the passenger side.

Just be cause you can not see a crack...doesn't mean there isn't one there. To really know, it would be best to have the head/s magnafluxed at a machine shop. Head gaskets don't just seal coolant...they seal oil as well. and the other way around too....compression, air & fuel mix, exhaust from the coolant and oil.

I have another set of heads that were checked cleaned and new valve seals that are going on.

I cant see the freeze plugs on the side of the block but I wanted to check them for leaks

also it was leaking coolant pretty quick

A blown head gasket or cracked head will lose coolant, either through exhaust or into oil system.
