i have a 88 ranger 2.9, just changed my oil to day, went to the store now the dumy light is on, when i give it gas the light gets bright when i let of the gas it dims out, some time it flickers, has this happend to any one eals? thanks for the help....mike:temper:

I was walking out of a store one day and looked over at the car that had stopped to let me across the crosswalk. At that very moment, the lady's oil drain plug fell out and started dumping oil out on the ground. Turns out her husband had just changed the oil like 10 minutes before and apparently didn't tighten the plug very well...it happens..the oil sensor on the side of my oil pan has a funky connection too, real easy to knock it off if your doing anything even close to that side of the motor..

pretty sure there is a oil level sensor in the side of the oil pan... check the connection going to it
If it goes away when he revs it up it's the pressure sensor... Pull that POS out and put in a mechanical gauge and don't worry about it ever again.

on top of it hahnsb2 , said #**** it went down to napa and got a after market gauge, problem solved, thanks for the help guys.
