Is the oil level sensor only on the STX on my 87 STX 2.9 there is a extra sensor on the drivers side of the oil pan about half way up that i belive is a oil level cut off switch i found some info on it that said it will shut off the engine when the oil level gets down to 1.7 L about 2 Qt to save the engine
my question is this only on some Rangers (STX ) 4X4 my 99 3.0 4X4 dose not have one and i have never seen one of these on any other ford trucks i have owned
any one got more info about this thing

GM did that with oil level cut-offs. I have not heard of Ford ever doing it.

The switch in the side of the 2.9 pan is only a level sensor. It will flip the light on when the level gets a quart low.

Ford stopped playing with oil level sensors in the mid 90s. I know the 94 4.0 had one, but that is the last engine that I know had one.

thanks if it just flips a light i don't care long as it wont shut down if it fails
Thanks again
