I have a 2003 with a 3l and have a oil leak i can not find. It is some where on the back of engine on left side up high. It starts leaking as soom as i start engine. I am not where i can bend around like i used too, so asking help here
Thanks

Lets be sure here... Left Hand side would be driver side... Right Hand side is passenger.

I see the Oil Pressure Switch is up high on the RH side... very suspect if it's leaking with the engine running.

I was going to say oil pressure switch until I saw the “left side” detail.

I was just making sure that we are on the same page with the LH RH thing.

The oil is coming down the drivers side. Just a little back of starter. I lnow left from right

My 98 has had a small drip for years. Doesn't do it when cold, only hot. And oddly, if I'm driving it and park somewhere and leave the engine running, nothing. Shut it off and it'll leave a spot about the size of a silver dollar.
So I've put up with it, since like the early 00's. Have no idea where it's coming from.

No question about that. But some people reference left and right as if they are standing at the bumper facing the truck and some people reference it as if they are in the driver seat. Just trying to make sure we’re all on the same page.

As for the leak, sounds like it’s near the cam position sensor area.

This is all greek to me
I am too old for this new stuff. Know nothing about the cam sensor.
Sorry still old school.

It's the doohickey that helps the ignition system know when to fire in relation to cam/valve position. I would expect it to be mounted at the rear, top of the engine, approximately where the distributor is on my older 3.0l.

Ok, i will see if i can see it. Not good eyes. But will keep looking

I don't believe the cam sensor is prone to leaking. Matter-of-fact, the cam position sensor is known to suffer insufficient oil, which is why they go bad. I take the sensor off mine, and squirt oil down it's throat once a week or so, as a precaution. Mine has near 163,000 miles on it as of now. It's getting close to the point when they are known to go BOOM!

I've heard tell here the oil pressure sending unit is. Believe it's on the passenger side rear.

Instead of saying left or right, why don't we just say passenger side / driver's side?

Sure it aint pissing out a valve cover gasket?
