oil in intake

my truck leaks oil like a freakin sieve. today, i started ripping into it, because it is the valve cover gaskets leaking. I found an odd amount of engine oil (precious synthetic, i may add) coating the throttle body, throttle plate and a good portion of the upper intake plenum. Should i be alarmed with my find? Can my discovery be blamed upon my leaky gaskets?

just an update. I got both valve covers off, and both gaskets were effed. the driver side gasket was actually ripped lol. the passenger side looked fine, but i noticed oil leaking from the rear. im getting new gaskets tonight, and painting the valve covers some time this week. hopefully this clears up the oil in my intake!

just put finger and thumb on opposite ends, and shake. If it sounds like a rattler, all is well, check for vacuum at hose, if it does a better job than your GF, all is well...

PVC rattles..cleaned the piss out of my valve covers, inside and out..got them ready for primer and paint. Gaskets will be in end of week, so i am working on other issues as of now...

while sanding/cleaning the heads where the gaskets sit on, i was looking inside the DS head area, where the rods and stuff are. it looks dry. I felt it; it feels lubricated but it looks slightly darker, almost burnt compared to the other side. I am charging my camera tonight to take pictures, so i can get better input. any ideas?
