Oil Gauge

I looked through the previous posts about the oil gauge issues on the Rangers, but I wanted to double check my issue before I went and spent money :) At cruising speed everything appears fine with the pressure. When I come to a stop and I knock it out of gear (standard), the oil gauge bounces between high and low. I would call it a flicker, but it goes from one extreme to the other (all the way both ways). I have also noticed that it has the exact same flicker on takeoff sometimes if I haven't given it quite enough gas. I have not put a manual gauge on it yet to check the pressure. Thanks for any advice!

bugalcaps - How many miles do you have on the truck, what year is it, what grade oil do you use, when was the last time you changed the oil?

Sorry...

It's a 2002 with 51,000 miles. I change the oil every 3,000 miles with Castrol 5w-20 (per the manual) and a Motorcraft filter.

Nope...

It makes absolutely no noise nor does it feel like it's stumbling or choking out. The only noise I hear when it does it is the sound of the needle hitting the stop pegs.

+1 The oil pressure sending unit is actually a N/O switch that closes with about 7PSI of oil pressure, making the gauge read about half-scale. The sending unit is located in the block, behind the head on the passenger's side.
