i jsut went a grabbed the oil and filter for the oil change and i grabbed jsut the advanced oil filter , should i have gt a differnt one or will this be ok

It'll be fine. In fact pretty much any filter will do just fine.
Except for......

Fram filters :stirthepot::D

akright good , i thought fram was suppose to be good

lol what makes them suck just all around back filter ?

It's just a poorly constructed filter for the money. You pay a lot for a filter with cardboard end caps. Even Wal-Mart Super Tech filters are decent quality, and they are just over $2.

im glad i didnt choose to buy fram i was thinkin about it but it was like 9.00 and the one i got was like under 3

uhg...your gonna make me get attacked by the fram supporters again, arent you?

im speaking from my personal experience. ive been a lube tech in 4 different shops over the coarse of 6 years or so now, so ive seen a lot of different filters in my short days.

first, ive seen a lot of fram filters that have metal filings from tooling still in the threads of the filter. the canisters are very flimsy (i have dented them by hand before). the drainback valves are almost always inoperative (distorted). the filter element has less surface area than higher quality units, and the glue holding the element to the canister often desintigrates, allowing the element to clunk around loosely inside the can.

but they do have that nice grippy stuff on the end :D

I used fram filters for several years on my ranger. It was not until recently that I switched to Mobile 1. The only reason was due to longer oil change intervals. But I was religious about changing my oil w/ a fram filter for the first 4-5 years of owning my truck.

i forgot to mention there is a TSB on several of ford engines for knocking/tapping coming from the engine. the fix is to replace aftermarket filters with motorcraft (wish i could recall the TSB #).
