Small filter equals less flow and plugging quicker. It probably wont hurt anything but I dont like when stuff like that happens. They probably put on the cheapest filter they could find. I would have more peace of mind if I knew the proper one was on it. There are too cheap not to change it. The small filter seems to be a trend these days. A lot of cars now have oil filters smaller than what you would find on a 20hp briggs engine. I know they are engineered correctly but I still dont like it.. But I am a heavy equipment tech. I am used to filters 8,10 inches is diameter and about a foot long.. Ones that will break your foot if you drop them on it..:icon_thumby:

The Wix compares pretty good.

50 pleats 2-5/8" high for the MC, 61 pleats and 2-6/8" tall. :icon_rofl:

But the Wix has less flutes, so its not as easy to remove....haha.

I like how they show that the Fram filter has no flutes but they just say NONE and that its a black matte finish. I think FRAM, though crappy, is probably the easiest filter to grip/remove.

I looked through it more, all the 6/8 measurements bug the heck out of me. Call it 3/4 like the rest of the world...

I had a fram on my Ranger for awhile. That rubber stuff gets weird when it is constantly soaked in oil for extended periods of time. :icon_thumby:

I wonder why ford didn't say 3/8? I mean a dumb person would probably think that 5/8 is bigger than 3/4 just because of the higher numerator.

The STP filter that I used on my Intrepid last weekend was about 3/4 of an inch shorter than the one that came off of it too... I will have to check the one that I got for the Ranger now...

Yeah I try and stick with motorcraft oil and filters if I can, its cheaper then most other oils and is recommended for ford by ford so it has to be good. I also like Napa filters.... other ones just feel so cheap in comparison.

I went back turns out they put the wrong filter on thanks for the help
