I've heard if that before. Interesting idea. It sure does obscure your view past the front sight, though.

Personally, I doubt that I will ever be in a position where I need my gun to be silent while I'm shooting. In fact, a loud bang and the thud of a body hitting the floor should be a deterrent to anyone thinking they might want to follow the guy I just shot.

I've been told they are nice for hunting, regular suppressors not oil filters. Don't have to worry about putting in ear plugs at the last minute or getting tinnitus from not. Would be nice for doing some target shooting on your property too.

Too expensive and too many hoops to jump through for me to be willing to give it a try unfortunately.

I'm not sure I see the point... at least for my puposes.

Not so sure all of the component parts would even be legal in some states.

I might use a Fram filter for that, I wouldn't put one on my engine.

Just so everyone is aware - if you search for and buy the adapter to do this, there is a really good chance that you've put yourself on an ATF watch list. And, if you screw the adapter onto your firearm and shoot through a filter without paying the $200 tax stamp and going through the NFA registration process, you are committing a felony. Same with the maglite suppressors.

The ATF raided Polymer80 (a company that manufactures and sells AR-15 parts) last week. Shortly afterwards some people who purchased a particular product from them also received visits from the ATF and had their purchases confiscated - one can only assume that the ATF obtained sales records and now knows exactly who bought what.

Be very careful about this stuff... the ATF does not mess around.
