Heads up. Next time you change your oil filter make sure the old gasket doesn't stay behind. Mine did and I didn't know. I almost didnt find out in time. I never had a gasket stick on the truck. I feel dumb.

Thanks. I don't remember the gasket ever coming of my filter like it did. I didn't lose lots of oil. Just a drip. But I found the filter very loose. Thank God I found out.

you guys have no idea what Chevy guys had to endure back in the 60s with those cartridge filters.
I remember finding 4 old gaskets on one.

Lol. That makes me feel better about this.

That's what silicon is for. I changed the oil for someone who bought a used Ranger years ago. I couldn't get the filter off. The filter wrench distorted the filter to the point it wouldn't stay on the filter. So, I got a big screwdriver and jammed it through the filter to take it off. The silicone finally broke loose after I severely destroyed the filter. After I got the filter off and realized someone used silicone I just lay there thinking, "why would anyone do that?"

But, it didn't leak.
