Oil Filter FILL procedure?

I've always done it...my dad taught me that long ago, but I think engines were designed a bit different...I look at the filter diagram (if provided) and the newer ones do not show filling the oil filter...some actually do...

i used to fill it. but now i just start the engine and turn it off immediately. most of the time there is oil pressure by the time the engine stops turning. so then it has pressure when i start it the second time.

or if im dry starting an engine with no way of running the oil pump manually i'll disable the ignition and crank until oil pressure comes up
