Will a 1991 FORD TAURUS SHO OIL COOLER fit a 2.9 engine? The oil cooler is mounted to the block and is cooled with engine coolant.

Check to see if they both use the same oil filter. If they do it might be adaptable.

The oil cooler fits between the block and the oil filter 90 that comes off the block so I am not too sure as to why it would matter what oil filter size but here's the info.

I will be using a wix 51773 oil filter on my 2.9 liter engine which is 0.013 inches bigger in diameter than the stock filter. Here is a list of differences

WIX- 51773 oil filter specs:
Height: 6.982
Outer Diameter Top: 3.663
Setting-PSI: 8-11

2.9 oil filter Specifications:
Height: 5.7 in (145 mm)
Outside Diameter: 3.65 in (93 mm)
PSI Relief Valve: 8-11

3.0 oil filter specs:
Height: 5.08 in (129 mm)
Outside Diameter: 2.99 in (76 mm)
PSI Relief Valve: 11-14

I talked to one of my Ford service buddies last night and he said he would not advise using it. He is a real motor head. Get the correct one for your truck.

to me, filter size does matter. my 2.8 uses an Fl1A. yeah, big honker. today i saw an F350 trident v10. the filter on that was just a little over 1/2 the size of mine! idk, but that just seems so wrong on so many different levels! my engine is now 27 years old and i just wonder if his v10 will last that long.
just my $.02.

If the adapter will bolt onto your motor, and the oil filter is similar in size, I say go for it.

Running some coolant lines should be rather simple.

Just curious, what makes you think you need an oil cooler? Do you have an oil temp gauge?

The reason I suggested checking if they use the same filter is quite simple. the thread on the adapter and the gasket on the filter would then be the same. These things are usually put on as an afterthought so the same would be true of the block.
