Hey guys i am currently in the process of swapping my 2.3 out for a 4.0 ohv into the ranger that i race. I am looking for some cheap and easy performance upgrades. I am already planning on port matching and polishing the heads and lower intake. I have heard that 351 v8 injectors will swap in and provide more fuel. Is there any throttle bodies that i can swap on to my plastic intake that will work?? Any help woudl be appreciated thanks guys!

And more fuel on a stock engine = what? wasted fuel....

There's a lot more to adding more fuel than just "swapping" injectors.

More fuel is wasted unless more air is added along with it. Porting only sees minimal gains in air flow unless you add larger valves or more valve lift/duration to go along with it. Since you already have the engine out find a mild cam for it. See if COMP Cams will do a custom grind like they do for the V8's out there.

You didn't really pick the best engine for a performance build.

Comp cams 410 cam will swap right in with stock pushrods and rockers. Their 422 cam will require longer pushrods.

Or give Delta Cams a call. They do custom regrinds for pretty cheap. I also recommend their hardened rockers.

Im running the 422 and still have more than enough fuel to stay stoic with stock injectors and regulator.

ok so apparently i didnt put enough info in the first post. The racing that i do is low budget racing and the rules are pretty strict. Its meant to keep everything cheap and competitive. You are only allowed to swap out for a v6 your not allowed to stuff a big v8 in it or a v6 thats bored and stroked and running on alcohol or anything like that. Friend of mine says he has 351 injectors in his but didnt know exactly so i was seeing if anyone has seen/heard of that before. i will have intake work as well as headers and straight piped exhaust. I was just wondering if anyone heard of injectors swapping out. my buddy obviously has his chipped big time by a performance shop and his made 220+ hp on a 4wheel dyno so obviously it works. i knew that just swapping injectors doesnt do shit. with more fuel you obviously need more air. I just had a simple injector question and was wondering what other bolt on stuff will help give me an edge. Thanks

I think just about any Ford injector will "bolt in"......

are there a newer type injector im looking at the plastic bosche type that say there compatible but the steel can type are more original im looking at two sets of poorly working original injectors and would like an upgrade I can by a market plastic or plastic bosche type but ive only seen 1 person using them and I cant get any tech data

You can find 24 pound injectors, generally you need to have a recalibrated mass airflow sensor for those injectors. And as others have said unless you are nitros or turbo or supercharged I am not sure it will do much. From what I read heads are very restricted on the non 98tm head trucks and hold back alot of flow. In addition 422 cam will require double valve springs if I remember correctly so head work. BBK used to make a larger throttle body I have one on mine. It's a pretty easy install for new injectors and relatively cheap to try either way.

What kind of racing you doing? Big difference between a drag race and a circle track.

2wd or 4wd?

If the rules allow...id look into regearing.

this thread is almost 7 years old....

Let's keep it up!

What about Prgramable ECUs. Have you guys heard of Fueltech. They make some nice ECUs. You can get a fair bit of power from changing it.
