Finally a good day =P

Well, other than being stressed that we might be selling the farm, due to the fact we cannot afford to keep it, I have had a good day =)

I fixed the Screen Door, adding a new return, inside handle, and fixing the broken screen.

------------------------------------------

Got up about 7:00am this morning with a cheesy smile on my face from sleeping good, and as I got up, I felt like sleeping.... so I turned on my laptop and woke myself up. At about 8:30, I jump in the shower, get dressed, make some Corn-Beef Hash and eat it. At 8:50 Jason gets to my house and I run out with my hands filled with my shoes, socks, water bottle, and 2 rootbeers for our morning drink.

I get in the car and he tells me we were late, so we step on it getting over to our boss' house about 2 or 3 minutes away. When we get there, I notice Jason was a little bit pissy, with the "NO! I told you over there!" and stuff, but as we worked, we got more adapt, as usual. I am used to these moods with him, I dont consider them a bad thing, its just his moods, he sometimes gets mad but does not mean it.

At about 12:30, my boss tells Jason and I to start oving things out of the basement, so we get everything out and I see the a table saw, it was a 1950's Craftsman Radial 100. Looked old and like it needed some TLC, but I took a leap.

"Whats that?"
"Thats a Table Saw"
"Its supposed to rain today, you want me to cover it up with a tarp or something?"
"Nah, just move her out, I don't want it"
"Mind if I take it off your hands?"
"Sure"

Thats about it.....

But yeah, we got off work about 1:00pm and we got our $50 for the day, and we headed to my house to get the truck, Jason was still a bit uneasy.

We return with my parents' 2005 Ford F150, and we take her down back around the house and load the 300lb+ sucker into the bed, and take along an old tea kettle with some old taps in it (metal). We get to the house, unload the saw, and place her in the shop. We plug her in, *POP!* I just blew the 25AMP/125V fuse in the breaker box.

I talked Jason into taking us to Walmart to cash the check and grab a fuse, and we were on our way. We get to Walmart, seeing a bunch of gas company trucks cutoff people on the way there, and park down close to the store. This being a big Walmart, it was not very busy today. So we browse the fuses and come up empty, they had 20AMP, 30AMP, and even a 15AMP, but no 25AMP.

So we decide to browse BB-Guns and stuff, knives, etc. And then we head off to the Watch area, and look at some nice clocks for sale. I grabbed a $7 black watch that was supposedly for women, but all together, looked more like a gumball machine find than ladies wear. So I purchased that and Jason's watch too. (He got a $13.00 watch).

On our way to the local Mansfield hardware store "Arnot Supply", we stop by a BC Electronics (former Radio Shack), and check for CB antennas for Jason's little 2003 Focus. We pass a familt of 4 (40-ish man, 40-ish woman, 4-5year old girl, and a 14 year old boy), and they were haulin a boat behind a Cherokee, but had a flat. Now me, being a nice guy, asked if he needed any help, and replied with a simple "Nah, its fine, just the lugs are on to tight, AAA is comin soon, so I got it, thanks though!".

Jason felt uneasy about the situation, and went over to his car and brought over his tire-iron, and with little luck, we wished them luck with the AAA guy and went on our way. Kinda felt bad, because he was an outastate with a boat, probably on vacation with his family, and the boat was a little small, but large enough for 4, the jeep looked like a beater, so they were not rich by any means, so I guess I could have related in that situation with the flat.

We went down to Arnot Supply and I got an 8' grounded wire to replace the one that sat on the Table Saw currently, and I also picked up two 25AMP fuses. We payed and left, but on our way back to the car we saw the Jeep being towed away with the father in the tow truck, and looked back to see his family sitting on the trailer that held the boat, at this point I felt sick with feeling bad for them =P. But I nodded it off knowin that their father had it under control.

On the way home we stop by Wendy's and get some food, and then head home. We get to the house and drive his Focus down to the shop and turn on some Michael Jackson music (now, relentless, he WAS a good singer!). We start workin on the saw and replace the cord, did some custom work due to laziness, and greased up all the VERY stiff joints. The Saw's joints were workin great!. Now since I ehard from dad that the saw had been used at my boss' house before, but it blew a fuse, and my boss, trying to get rid of it, sent me home with a fire hazard that could have killed me upon plugging it in.

I was felling dumbfounded, but dad liked the fact I got it, and was fixing it up, which made me feel good since he was not yelling at me for once, haha.

So Jason left soon after we got done greasing the joints, and I start to cleanup the shop and get ready for dinner.

The rest is history =P

But that was my day!
OH, in the bottom section of the Table Saw Stand, I found the original manuals, and a Drill-Pump! It works too!

How do I use this?

Hook hoses on each end of the pump, and stick the metal shaft in a drill.. not really complicated. Should have a flow indicator so ya know which end is which.

Hook it up to piece of hose on either end and put the metal piece in your drill and turn the drill on and transfer liquids. I have one, but I never could get it to work well it's at Harbor freight special. A lot of people were using them to steal gas with at gas stations, but I could even get mine to pump out my damn pool water. Nice find on the saw BTW!

thanks, was thinking about dad with the diesle we use for the oil heater, no more ciphoning!

Not sure, and if you read, it blew a fuse in the barn, motor neets replaced, not expensive, just tedious =P, the manual shows you how to actually rebuild everything though, even the electric motor!

But I will be looking at the instructions more tomorrow, they are pretty worn, so I am gonna photo copy them and then use those copies, and save these.

I see those old craftsman radial arm saws all the time while I'm doing inspections in people's houses. Probably one of the most reliable tools craftsman has ever made. You're the first person I've talked to with one that didn't still work like new.

Well, it has sit there unused since the 60's, so it needs some TLC, but it only took Jason and I all of 1 hour to grease all everything, get it moving, and add a new cord.

Yeah, useful is right, i am gonna be making the interior for my truck with this, the wood trim will be made as soon as I get it runnin =).

Next I need a bansaw and/or a drill press, might go over to the outlet today and get one for $40

Hell no, I want a shop too =P

The ranger can stay disabled for a while longer, I can use this to help rebuild it!
