oh my god, c4c claims one of my favorites

Too bad so many really good rides got wasted. Two of my friends work for dealers. They got a couple of great cheap rides and I was pissed about it!!! They were not supposed to get a car to take home? I thought all the cash for clunkers were supposed to get shredded?? If they did something they were not supposed to do I will be pissed, but they are my buddies.....one got a 04 Rubicon with 56,000 miles on it. The other got a really neat lifted F250 with about 64,000 miles on it........ahhhhhhh my head is aching!!!!!!

They are supposed to be shredded. From the craigslist ad:
The rules state we can only sell the used parts and not the whole vehicle. Keep in mind the engines have been locked up by means stated in the U S Governments C A R S program, so no engines in these vehicles. But lots of good parts are available such as Seats Fenders Glass Beds Transmissions Axles Starters Alternators Taillights Driveshaft’s Doors Bumpers Wheels basically any part but the engine or frame. These are rust free Texas Cars and Trucks.

As for your friends getting vehicles to keep, all they had to do was give the customer their $4500, not file the paperwork to the government, and do whatever they wanted with the vehicle.

have ya'll seen the complete list of c4c'd vehicles? Some really high end ones in there...idiots who traded 'em in. GMC syclone/typhoon, 2004 roush f150 just to name a couple.

:bawling: Ahh, nooo, not the RX-7. That car is one of my all time favorites.

As for the C2C thing, some owners were stupid and deserve a good kicking. :buttkick:

The thing with the C4C was so many dealers, at least around Denver, were matching the $4500 so people were getting $9000 trade on some of the better vehicles. Dealers were desperate to sell and keep their doors open. I am suprised that your friends got vehicles out of it, if they broke the rules they deserve to be turned in for it. :thefinger: Because it is not fair to the rest of us!!:bawling: :icon_rofl:

Imagine the suprise of the ex-owner of those vehicles when they see them driving around town! If it was me I would file a complaint with the goverment about it. It just aint right no matter how the dealer manipulated it.

I for one am very glad that my ranger was not licenced for a whole year before C4C came, because the DW was after me to trade it in and it did not qualify.:icon_thumby:

But now that I want to sell it, I am sure I will never get $4500 for it.

Anybody want a first owner 1985 gen 1 for $4500 bucks? First Cash takes it!
I really want the $$$ to buy a newer ????? and get the wife to stop complaining about how bad it stinks up the garage after I drive it......

Mike

I was going to use C4C to get rid of the minivan (the only way i was going to get 1/2 of what i had in it) but I did not qualify.

There was a positive spin to C4C

It got 93% of the 'Vote for Obama' bumper stickers off the road.

Sorry. Thought it was funny.

how in the world did they get such a low mileage Rubicon!? we're there rules on mileage and stuff!?

Yes, but they weren't strict enough. Basicly the vehicle can't be older than 1985 and must have a MPG equal or less than a speific amount. My mom's 96 Blazer quilfied, but not my Ranger. And I told my mom straight up. If you cash in the Blazer, I will pay for it first. No sense of taking a perfectly good 4x4 off the road.

If the dealer kept the vehicles in the way I described above, then it is perfectly legal. Doesn't matter if you report it to the gov't, there's nothing they can do about it.

Waht are you talking about? As long as it's EPA rated at 18 mpg or less, and is less than 25 years old, it qualifes. An 04 Rubicon definitely gets less than 18 mpg. It more than qualifies.

I think what he's trying to say is that an 04 rubicon is worth more than $4500. In fair condition in my area code with no extra options and that mileage, KBB says it's worth $9750, in fact. This whole program was f-ed from the get go. Retards who want to be known as men of action in decision making positions are a BAD poison.
