Official name

thats a lotta miles for IFS. give the front end a thorough once-over. seems that generation f-150 eats tie rod ends and balljoints pretty regularly. make sure the suspension is loaded when you check balljoints (a jack stand under the lower a-arm works well), otherwise its easy to miss them unless they are really bad.

what engine?

the f-150's transmissions seem to be pretty impervious to mileage (the rangers should be so lucky :annoyed:). ive seen them used and abused beyond 200K and still shifting just dandy.

a running, driving pickup is worth $500 IMO...power windows or no. and if you can get a BCM for $50 then i would definitely go for it.

yeah thats what I said. The guy is nearly blind and can't drive anymore, his wife (family friend) won't sell it to me till after the winter season, she is using it when it snows, but they are moving to AZ for dryer air. he wants to sell the plow separately.

4.6L and weak ass 8.8.

at least its a v-8....im not a huge fan of the 4.2.

whats wrong with the 8.8? its a decent butt. there are 4.6 mustang guys putting down 450+ HP through it :dunno:

my dad blew his twice towing a small travel trailer. he bought a 3/4 ton with a 5.4L it just seams too weak for a full size pick up.

huh...well im sure if you intend to keep the truck you could easily upgrade to something else. guess thats the advantage to having a fullsize :icon_thumby:

I was thinking 9.75" from a 99 up.

according to my mechanic they are the same, he is running 97 wheels on his 99

ya that makes sense. i guess my brain hasnt switched on yet this morning. the newer generation ('05? '06 and up?) uses a six lug pattern...but 97-04 should all be the same.

after looking at 6" suspension lift kits, I am thinking SAS.

no, more like a 60 and 35's

must not be a very serious case of needledick syndrome then :icon_rofl:

what exactly do you plan on using this truck for?

don't know, but in order to buy it I have to promise not to strip and recycle the frame.

thinking daily driver, but its mostly stock and I hate stock, even in a DD

lifted (especially SAS) and daily driver dont belong together IMO. parts wear faster, handling is worse, gas mileage is worse...not to mention 35's aint cheap.

lowering it would be infinitely more practical and just as unique (hiss! i said lowered 4x4!).
