Picked up a Benchmade Mini Griptillian a few weeks ago for an edc and I love it. Takes and holds an edge better than any other knife I've ever had.

EDC this:

Emerson CQC-7V plain edge. Awesome knife, the wave feature is sweet. Boss put that one through his hand one day. I don't hand him anything more dangerous than safety scissors anymore.

And when I'm at work I also carry a Leatherman MUT. Great tool, crappy knife as usual. But it gets the job done.

3 problems with that knife, 1 that's more than twice what I paid for my grip, 2 I hate liner locks especially after using an axis lock, 3 I'll take a drop point over a tanto blade any day.

I actually use the tanto quite a lot and I have no problem with the liner lock, however the axis lock is definitely awesome.

And the price really wasn't bad. Sure it's a little expensive but it wasn't much more than some of the benchmades I was looking at.


And I can still have the knife out and open long before the next guy, even if he has an auto.

Almost lost it when both my knife and leatherman disappeared in two days. I think my leatherman is long gone, found my emerson(though I already had another ordered. So now I have a plain edge and a serrated).

But I've been looking at the L-man OHT to replace the MUT. I like the "out the front" plier design. Just need to find a tan one in stock somewhere.

My friend is looking for a good fixed blade to keep in his splicing kit, he has been looking at the myerchin rigging knives, but they're a 440c equivalent. I'm thinking he is going to want a higher grade steel, although with what we do nothing will hold an edge(a rigger at another company has to re-sharpen his ceramic "never sharpen" knives every week). So should he go with a 154cm that he can sharpen easily? Or something else? And does anyone know of a good fixed knife where the edge is lower than the handle so he can cut on a flat table?

Btw I picked up one of the ultimate edge sharpening tools from Emerson's site. Great piece.

I have a couple of multi-tools with blades (SST, and don't cut well), but I also have a Gerber metolius fixed blade with gut hook. I like it.

I have kitchen scissors for a knife. They cut sheet metal, wire, fiberglass cloth, animals and also open beer. Much better utility tool than a knife. Poultry sheers are better, but they don't open beer--unless your brand has a twist-off.

I have guns, too. I don't use them for the same things I use my scissors for.

Now this is a thread I can get interested in.

I love knives. I have lots of knives. Oddly enough my most disappointing knife was a Smith & Wesson. I could not keep the blade pivot screw from backing out. One of my favorites is an antique butterfly that I got from my grandfather. I think it may have been his father's.

Maybe, but unfortunately scissors don't clip to my jeans quite as nicely.

ALways been a Spyderco and Benchmade fan, but I have been carrying a Gerber for the last few months that is not bad. Liner lock though, and like others I'm not the biggest fan, but it's grown on me.
