Off Road Package Lift???

My 2000 Ranger came with the Off Road Package 2 inch factory lift and I'm looking into putting anouther 4 inches of lift in it this year. So my questions are 1. what kind of lift is the factory lift ie: suspension, torsion bar, or body? and when it comes to lifting it would I be better off eliminating the IFS and swapping in a older axle and front suspension system, or paying for the IFS lift?

No such thing as a factory lift kit. Offroad package I'm assuming is the #1 torsion bars which are stiffer. But other than that as far as I know its the same as the other 4x4's

I'm not aware of any factory lift offering outside of some '87-'89 STX trucks. Yours might simply have the torsion bars cranked up a bit higher.

As for an axle swap vs lifting the IFS... What are your intentions for the truck (what kind of wheeling are you wanting to do?)? If it won't be anything more than some logging/mining roads and/or you just want to get to some local camping spots (or if it's just for looks), an IFS lift would probably be fine. The IFS lift will be a much more straightforward installation, though it may not be much (if any) less costly than a solid axle swap would be using a junkyard-sourced Dana44 axle. If you plan to use it in any real rugged terrain (rocks, etc.), I'd suggest start your research on an axle swap.

Im still pissed off nobody has offered a SAS kit. Every rusty 400000km Toyota that has ifs (ie taco, 4runner etc) has an aftermarket SAS kit or ten available.
