Can anyone suggest a good place (preferable existing) to run a fog light wire from the engine bay to the inside of the cab? It is a 99 4.0L 4wd supercab with an automatic if any of that matters.

.

The gear selector linkage has a large rubber grommet you can pop it through. Just be sure to either slice the rubber so its not rubbing on the metal or protect it some way

from my push bumper i ran them through the grill and like inside the driverside fender. there should be a hole there and ran it to the door and i think i then ran it under the door seal into the fuse box. worked for me with no problems :D

ran mine through the space between the hood and fender, went right into the fuse box

Where is this in the engine bay? This is the kinda idea I am looking for

Thanks

in between the brake booster and the head, near the throttle cable and the steering shaft IIRC. its a pretty big round grommet

if your truck doesnt have cruise control there should be a grommet in the firewall where the cable would go, its in the same area as 3.0ranger described.

I'll check it out when i get home. Is the wire hard to get to once it is through the gromet?

I'm not sure, only reason I know about it is because I helped a friend get his cab off of his rolled truck.

This will be your best friend when installing stuff into a vehicle. They come in different sizes. Spend the money and get a GOOD set of them, don't buy the cheapest ones you can find. Trust me...I've burnt alot of cheap bits and the good ones just keep on going.

Then, find yourself a set of closed grommets.

All you have to do is drill the hole, pop the grommet into place and cut a small slit for your wire to pass through. Voila!

Some tips though...1) get yourself some touch up paint in a pen, when you're done drilling the hole, paint the edge of the hole to protect it from moisture causing premature rust. 2) Be sure you know what's on the back side of the metal/plastic you're about to drill. Otherwise you could damage something important or find out how well the fuses work. 3) A little bit of cutting oil goes along way to help the bit cut easier and last longer! 4) Don't just put the bit into a drill on high speed and melt it through the metal. Slow it down and let it cut! 5) If you want to be sure the grommet won't go anywhere, put some RTV silicone around the outside of it when you install it. If you want to be sure it's sealed, put a dab of silicone in the middle after you've got the wire in place.
