My new to me '98 regular cab ranger is missing the bottle jack and I've been perusing ebay to find a replacement. It looks like OEM jacks have red, blue, or yellow knobs on them. Does this signify anything? Will a bottle jack from an extended cab (blue knob) fit in the bracket of a regular cab (red knob)?

I have a red knob in one of my extended cabs and a blue knob in the other. I suspect they are the same. 2011 and 2003

I just looked, the the one in my 2009 regular cab has a blue knob. No I do not think there is any difference, Ford probably just bought whatever color knobs were on sale on any given day...

All the ones I've seen from 98+ trucks have the same little bent perch thingy on top to lift either the rear axle tube, or the hook thingy on the front control arms. I pulled the one out of the 2000 I had and can't remember the knob color, but it was also the same exact jack.

I don’t think the older ones even have knobs. Don’t recall one on my 93. I think my 97 Fun50 has a knob. Don’t know what color. I’m thinking it might be yaller.

Awesome, thanks for checking. Found a relatively cheap red knob from an '03 F150, looks like it has the same curved top. Will update when it arrives if it fits in the bracket (or not). In any case, it'll lift truck when needed.

Welcome to the club, the knob on mine is orange.

Ended up buying one on ebay with a yellow knob, fit just fine.

My '85 has no knob. I have one out if a first Gen Explorer that has a yellow one.

Good deal!

That shows how often I use or even look at my OEM jack. Almost got it out to replace my broken hub a few weeks ago. But my buddy handed me a hydraulic jack while I was getting my lug socket and breaker bar out of the toolbag.

I tracked down the correct jack kit a few years ago because it was all long gone when I got the truck. :dntknw:
