Hello Everybody,

I find myself today in another quandary. I am still working on my front end noise that I had posted about in an earlier thread, I have it isolated to either the sway bar end links or the inner tie rods. I have already ruled out the ball joints, checked them twice. My first spot to check is going to be the sway bar, and here is where my problem begins.

I was able to order the Moog sway bar links, but when I measured the sway bar for the frame bushings, it measures between 33 mm and 34 mm. The parts catalogs list either 27mm or 29mm sway bar frame bushings.

I was able to find a part number on the sway bar, which is F87A-5494-CC. This number does not correspond to a Ranger. There is no question that the bar came with the truck from the factory, since I am the original owner. I was hoping to call Tasca and see what that number corresponds to, but they are not currently taking phone calls.

I know that Energy Suspension makes a 33mm greasable frame bushing, which would be fine by me to use.

Has anyone else had the problem of not being able to find the proper sway bar frame bushings? Or rather, what have you used instead?

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Did a google on your sway bar, bumped into this:

85_Ranger4x4 - I had seen that, and I may end up going that route. That thread was about 5 or 6 years old I think, and I was just curious if any of the people on here had run into the same problem now that the later generation Rangers are getting to that 10+ year old mark.

Before buying more parts....

Have you tried removing the anti- sway bar and see if the noise still occurs? Cheap way to rule it out or confirm it.

ericbphoto- I was considering doing that, however being that the bushings are 12 years old and are starting to look a little tired / worn, I was figuring on replacing them anyway since if they are not bad yet, they probably will be soon.

I also already had the end links from when I placed an order with Rock Auto awhile back. The moog links were about 7 bucks and shipped free with the rest of my order, I could not pass that up.

Hey everyone. I'm new here but have owned a 1990 Ranger and currently have a 2004 Ranger 2WD and a 2010 Ranger 4WD.

It's the 4WD one that brings me here as I, too, have the 34mm front sway bar. It is clearly marked part# F87A-5494-CC. It also has what looks like "FoMoCo" on the label, but the "F" is a bit tough to read - I can only come up with FoMoCo = Ford Motor Co...

Has anyone figured out the sway bar bushings on this truck without getting hosed by a dealer for the part? Explorers from the late 90s into the early 2000s seem to be the ticket, but I'm just not sure.

Thank you!
