I have a 1994 XLT 4 cyl with dual plugs. Has distributorless ignition. I keep having the check engine light come on only when on the freeway at 70+ mph. It is intermittent with the C.E. light coming on. I looked for an ODB connection and did not find one. To my understanding it should have one? I did find a EEC scan connect under the hood. My question is, Has my engine been replaced, or is it a rare instance to have the EEC vs the ODB? I also need to find out where to get it canned at for codes. Thanks for the time reading and thanks if you have helpful advice!

obd1 and eec4 are one in the same, read in the haynes manual or in the tech section it will tell you the dif procedures and what to do to retrieve codes. after 95 they switched to obd2/eec5 which has the second o2 sensor after the cat added and the cam position sensor plus more complex computer/wiring. codes for the obd2/eec5 can be pulled with a scantool at autozoo or similar place whereas my local autozoo cannot pull obd1/eec4 codes, look into your local parts store or even call the stealership and see what they tell you to look for.
