No idea what an OASIS report is or tells you, but I can run Autocheck (like Carfax) for a few more weeks. Let me know if that will help.

Thanks. What does someone hope to learn from that? It can only include work done at Ford dealerships, so there's tons of stuff it wouldn't include, right? I know I almost never go back to the dealership once a vehicle is out of warranty. Not arguing, just not understanding.

BTW, that VIN shows as likely being a one-owner until Sept when it went to auction. Every registration renewal prior to that was in the same place. And the auction reported 172k miles - above average for an 8 yr old vehicle but not necessarily something I'd worry about personally if the truck checks out. Otherwise there's no reported events to worry about.

There are 4 previous warranty claims, 1 for a heated seat not working (had seat element replaced), 1 for vehicle dies while driving (had CMP replaced), an engine light on and engine chugging intermittently (replaced some wiring connectors), and another one for vehicle dies while driving (replaced the CMP again)

Sasquatch, do you have the mileage for the warranty claims? I don't care about the heated seats, I was just wondering. The guy said the trans was replaced by ford at 148k, and that he has papers on it. The truck looks really clean in the pictures, 175k just kind of scares me.

meh, its a diesel isn't it? Its just getting broken in at 175K.

I'm not so worried about the the engine, it's the injectors that I'm worried about. $300 x 8 = $2400... just for parts. Then theres the time to pull the valve covers, and drain the oil and fuel galleries in the heads, and pull the injectors. Might as well replace the glow plugs while I'm in there (more $)... Now I still think this truck is a great deal, I'm just aware that it could need some work.

I'll see if I can get this thread fired back up again... I'm still looking for a diesel. The 2001 I had you guys look up in December was a rust bucket... it ran well, but it sure was rusty. I found another couple, and I would like to get OASIS history for them, they are both 6.0s and I'm kind of curious how many times they have had major problems. Check this one first VIN: 1FTSW21P06EA50875 and PM the results. I have one more I would like to get checked out, but I won't know the VIN till i go look at the truck. Thanks for all of the help.
