O2 sensor

i recently lost exhaust and put a new one on, but i do not have a O2 sensor...will that effect my trucks performance any?

yes it will, the ECU will not know how to adjust your fuel trims... you will run rich all the time and get poor MPG

ok thx..cause i have a 3 inch body lift with 33 X 12.50 on it and im getting about 15- 17 mpgs depending on how i run it...thats around town and back roads

unless you fixed your speedometer you're getting better mileage than you think...

and yes, you need an oxygen sensor in the system, actually on a '96 you need 2 of them, one before and one after the catalyst

I am not an expert. I will acquiesce if I am incorrect. In these trucks the precat sensor are part of engine management and are vital. The after cat o2 sensor merely reads info, it does not effect engine management. I am not sure what codes you would get if the after cat sensor was not there, however it should not effect how the engine runs. the precat sensor will. again i am not positive but i believe removing any emissions equipment is illegal. I am assuming you do not have an after cat o2 sensor

modelageek u are right i do not have an aftercat O2 sensor but i havent drove my truck for a while due to that im in college and driving a car to get better mpgs but i want to drive my truck so thats why i was asking about the mpgs and what not...i plan on fixing it in a week when im off for spring break.....
