I kept getting a code of 0135 and 0141 which deal with O2. I went and changed both of them on my 97 2.3l ranger and when i go to start the truck it still gives a check engine light with the same codes. If i clear the codes they wont come back on till i shut off the truck. THANKS

97 Ranger 350000 miles

when i changed out my O2 sensors and they check engine light came back on i went out on a low tank of gas got shell 93 octane gas and put in some octane booster just for the heck and not long after the check engine light went off.

idk if this will help you but it got my light to go off and been off ever since, other then that make sure you put the right O2 sensor is the right place since you changed both out haha just a thought.

thanks i made sure that when i picked them up from the auto part store i marked the boxes, done that before Thanks

how do you put the o2 sensors in the wrong place? just wondering because mine need to be replaced.

The sensors aren't different. Same part # side to side, you just gotta make sure they are plugged into the right side of the harness.

Check for power on the light blue/orange wire. That one powers the heaters.

both the O2 sensors are 4 wire heated O2 sensors , they contain a heating element designed to bring the sensor up to temp and the vehicle into closed loop faster

Sensor heater dude. Your cabin heater is not electric, it makes heat by running hot coolant through a mini-radiator behind the dash and blowing air over it.

The sensors work best around 400* F, so they have small electric heaters in them to get them up to temp faster. Your codes are for failed O2 heaters.

Both plugs should have a blue and orange wire for the sensor heater.

yea i know about the cabin heater....just been a long work day and that confused the shit out of me for a second

Haha, been there, done that.

At least I got a laugh out of it.

me too, cause soon as you said that i was like wtf? a O2 sensor running the heat in your truck? haha i sat here for a bit thinking and even started looking it up on google until i saw you explain it. I cant help but laugh for sitting here contemplating that concept.
