O/D Light

Over drive light is off drive it for 10 min or so the O/D light starts flashing. added fluid old fluid was dark. Have not changed the filter. Also when the truck is started up there is not problems once shifted to drive/reverse there is a rattle from under the truck. Could this be a transmission problem? Truck is a 99 supercab 4.0L 4x4. Electronic 4x4

without knowing what the computer is seeing, theres not much we can do for you. you should take the truck in and have the dealer pull the code and see whats wrong with it. i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but trans codes usually result in a teardown...
