Posting this as a place for any TRS flood victims on here to organize thoughts, photos, and for people to send out prayers or good wishes towards those who are now homeless or facing troubles due to the most recent flood in NY.

I'm not sure how many of you on here are NY members, or how many are experiencing this flood, but my prayers are with you!

I am one of the lucky ones to be out of the flood zone. And I am thankful for that.

I will be posting photos shortly of flood damage in the nearby towns. Some of those close by me that are the most effected are Walton, Sidney Center, Sidney, and Bainbridge. I am sure there are 100's more but I don't have the time to post all of them right now.

I think praying should be confined to the Sanctuary forum where we don't have to read it.

That is why I also put best wishes. Your best wishes aren't religious.

There are many who would not see this if it was in the Sanctuary. This post is in no way religious.

Walmart in Vestal, NY. That man is trapped in his truck.

Kmart, I believe it's in Binghamton as my store (Sidney) is not flooded.

A local school, there is NO school going on at any of the local schools. First day was yesterday.

I think this is the Susquehanna, and route 26.

I'm unsure where this house is, probably Walton or Sidney.

This barn used to have several horses in it, they have been evacuated to higher ground.

This is a street, not a river. My sister lives near here.

A local bank in Sidney. I'm not sure why Scoville-Meno opted to leave the van, they left another one across the street that is now waterlogged.

A boat rescue being done, I believe in Walton.

Another view from Scoville-Meno in Sidney, there are several streets further down that are underwater, along with another bank and a library. Main street is also in that direction.

A street, I'm not sure where. I think in Walton.

By the way, this is the 2nd day of the flood. It's supposed to start raining again tomorrow.

Several towns are now without power and many of them JUST got it back after the Hurricane.

What are we calling a "victim" here?

I'm being affected, but my house isn't getting wet. I made it to work today, but really had to go out of my way to get there. The water was maybe 6 inches from the river bridges which closed about an hour after I went through. The one underpass I took I was actually under the level of the river just on the other side of the Sunbury Levy.

When I got there I found out that most of the service dept didn't make it in, including everyone who works the front desk.

One of my co-workers who lives near me called in about the same time I got there to say he couldn't get in so I was listening to the weather and road closings all morning. Left at about 9:45 when they said the last two roads I had for getting home without running 50 miles down river were closing soon.

Half my town will probably be flooded before this is over, and most of our bridges are closed. Kinda stuck here. Gotta go 40 miles in any direction to get to anything that isn't under water or closed because the roads to it are underwater.

Luckily I only live 8 miles from work, and don't cross a river. There's no power at work though, so I'm debating going in because I'll just be sent home early.

How far down does the flood go anyway? I know it pummeled NY, PA, and NJ in '06. Supposedly this one is going to be worse, but it's letting up for now.

I dunno, but I live on "Ridge Road" and the name is quite accurate to the geography. About 4 miles from the West Branch of the Susquehanna. By the time I'm worried about the water hitting the house, I should have been building an Ark.

Same here, I barely get touched by the flood. I have some neighbors that get nailed, but they're in low-laying parts of town.

I was just picking about posting this thread in the Sanctuary forum. You're right about many more people seeing your request in this forum.

God has reminded me several times lately to pray for those in the eastern states involved in the flooding...I guess he wants me to take some time off concerning grieving for my son--he reminds me that others are going thru hard times lately besides me...

Also, you said this isn't a religious thread....I've been trying for years to get people to quit thinking about religion when they think of God. When I ask my biological father to help me, I don't think of religion (as men think of religion...usually in a negative way,,,which I completely understand). I really wish people would think of God as the person who could help them because he just plain cares for them.

Anyhow, thanks for reminding me to talk to God tonight about the storm victims up there...and best wishes for their welfare.

Those pictures above, the one unlabeled looks just like a picture from the Kirkwood Ny Bridge across the Susquehanna....

flooding in the same area in 2006 ate my last 2.9 engine when my engine tried to injest just a little too much river water on NY-7A heading south out of Conklin.

Frankly I'm kinda of amused by all the friends from elsewhere that have called me to ask how I'm doing in "all the flooding out there".... I'm honestly 500feet above it all the only reason I got caught in it in '06 was because I was attempting to rescue someone else then and as we all know "No good deed goes unpunished"

Spent four hours on the road today. The Kmart in the above photos has a bad fire in all the confusion and fireman did a breach on one of the back doors. We had to do a repair by boat that was completely unplanned and turned out to be a crock of sh*t. Ended up leaving supplies there for the head honcho to figure out his own mess.

Funny thing is, it's usually a 40 minute drive to get there. Took us two hours each way.

:icon_surprised:

WOW......that's badddddddd......be safe............

thats insane. ive driven through binghamton to go to NJ a few times. never thought it would flood!

crazy how 5 hours north it's blue skys and dry!
