I have heard a lot about all of this, and its a good thing my mom watches the news and my dad used to work in a nuclear power plant =p.

clear for all to know, the powerplant in Japan that blew the side out should have been shut down roughly 10 years ago. these nuclear power plants have an age limit, so they either get replaced, rebuilt completely (new coolant towers and all) or they simply concrete it all, disable the reactors, and empty the water out into a safe-field or a safe-pond (a place for radiated water to be stored without causing harm to the environment).

good thing the worst accident in the US for nulcear was just a spoof of nuclear radiation in a steam puff coming out of Three Mile Island lol. No one was killed, hurt, sick, or even aware of the incident till the locals heard the faint sound of the distant plant's sirens (the plant is basically island'd off).

I posted this cause the news has been stretching the truth about the cause by NOT SAYING WHAT THE SOURCE OF THE MALFUNCTION WAS!

Well of course they wouldn't say what the cause was....they (japan) build such high quality stuff that lasts forever! Can't go tarnishing that rep now, could we.

*end sarcasm*

On another somewhat related note, my dad's cousin got into an accident a couple weeks ago with his brand new CRV. They aren't expecting parts to come in until roughly 6 months from now. The insurance company is just going to change their mind and write it off 'cause it's costing them $900/week for the rental. lol

wow, lol, he can take the money and go to a junkyard and save himself some insurance lol how bad was the damage?

A few thou. Can't remember how much it was exactly, but it was maybe 3 months old at that point. He wanted the insurance to write it off 'cause there was damage to the unibody, but they refused and insisted on repairing it.
