I searched google and didn't find anything, so I figured I'd ask the gurus.
Has anybody ever adapted a 2.3 lima to an NP435? Is this even possible?

Discuss...

Sure it's possible with the correct adapters. I'm doubting there is an adapter but I do know there is one out on the market to put a NP435 behind a 2.9/4.0.

Not trying to stomp on feelings or anything, but, why in the hell would you wanna put such a big trans behind any of these motors?

That's about like putting a dump-truck trans behind a stock 302.

The only benifit(s) I can see are the short case length, they're bulletproof, and the super low 1st gear. Other than that, they are havier than hell, take up a lot of power, and the width and height of them would require lots of tunnel cutting.

Maybe I'm wrong.

In all honesty though, I'd like to see it done just for the hell of it. You couldn't break it, that's for damn sure.

The three points you brought up are exactly why I was thinking the Np435. It's short, stout, and 6.69:1 first. All that coupled with the fact that I have one, made me think of it. I probably won't do it, for the fact I would probably have to make the adapters, but I thought it was worthy of discussion anyways.

I say "do it" just for the fact that it hasn't been done yet. It's a heavy-@$$ trans, but you'll never kill it. I wanna see it done just for the hell of it.

It's not that heavy weight wise. A 2.3 shouldn't have any trouble pushing it around. The only problem I would see it that you would be making all your own parts.

Matt

What does the weight have to do with the output power of the 2.3? As long as you build a strong/sturdy enough cross member to hold it up, whats the problem?
