so heres the deal, i picked up a np435 that im looking to put behind me 4.0, ive done extensive research and cannot find a kit to buy to make it easy (ive tried contacting people who i know do build the kit but have had no reply) so im going to have to make adapter plate myself, my quastion is if anyone has a 4.0 out that can possibly just make me a template of the back of teh engine (i need to know exactly where the crank shaft is and everything) so i can make the adapter, or if anyone has any ideas of how i can get a template, or if youall know of someone that makes one that has them readily availible, info would be greatly appreciated

I am also wanting to mate a 435 to a 4.0. I do not have a spare 4.0 But my dads buddy owns a wrecking yard so I can see what I can do this weekend. I would be interested in an adapter as well if you can make another.

yeah i ll be able to make one up for you, might not be right away though because id like to have mine in and working properly before i make a second and then find a problem

Right on, I will have my dad ask and see if he can get me in to walk around and seek a naked 4.0. The place is literally 60 seconds from my house.

good stuff, i just pm'ed a guy that suposedly had one in his explorer at one time to see if hes willing to sell that set up, if i can get it from him i can either make you one or just trace out the adapter onto paper and mail it to you, either way hopefully i can get some good info from him..fingers crossed for a reply from him

Cool beans. I am a fabricator to I can just cut her out on the cnc plasma LOL.

ok just talked to a freind of mine out here and hes pulling the 4.0 out of his explorer next week so ill definetly be able to figure out a template, and hopefully fab up an adapter, im going to need to get this thing done asap, my m5od isnt going to be happy trying to push 3/4 axles with 37s over rocks

oh you have a cnc!? :), in that case ill just make the adapter out of something thinnner that i can easily cut and what not and ill just pay you to cut it out for me so it looks right

1/4 inch steel, nad yeah i can across that one, im going to use that for refrance to set up the pilot bearing and clutch

Just wondering if you had made any progress with this?

did you talk to mark on the 435 setup?
