im a new member and haven't combed the site for info yet but im swapping the 2.3 4 banger for a v-8. originally i wanted the 302 but couldnt find one for cheap. being only nineteen really sux cause the money just isnt there and now ive decided to put in a 350 chevy it would be helpfull if anyone on here has done the same for a 95 ranger and wants ta share some hints tips and the like :icon_welder::icon_cheers:

thanx but i heard for the rad that i can have it recored and use an after market elec fan and it should do it as for the rear end im using a choped ford 9'' outa a 70s truck
im looking for around 380-420 hp lol just enough to get me to work and back ya know lol

Hey. Good choice.

Personally I'd get the rad from jegs. I tried every other alternative. And for 159 shipped. You can't beat it.

Any questions just ask.

ill check it out but idk if they ship to canada this is my first build so im learning alot lol

JEGS site is quite cool. They'll give you a shipping quote, including tax, duty, and brokerage fees. You owe the delivery guy nothing when he hands you the parts.

I could tell ya what NOT to do.....:icon_rofl:.....

hey no worries man. if you have any questions, just pm me. chvlfrk aslso has done a couple of these swaps in your type truck. pm him if you have any questions. his name is tim. hes a really awesome guy.

thanks guys i just got the 350 tore down and now its rebuild time i think im keeping the 4cyl in for awile till finances are solid for the 350 still got ta get pics up but no one hold there breath lol im 18 and all but not as tech savy for this stuff as most lol

Let me give you some advice.

In a matter of 2 weeks you went from getting a 350, to stripping it for a rebuild, to now having a 302.
Slow down.
You said you have to keep the 4 cyl until finances are solid. The best way to WASTE money on a project is to change directions mid-stream. Make a plan and set a budget. Take your time and find the parts that you need (or want), not whatever you can get your hands on today.

Personally, I fail to see how a 350 is any cheaper to swap than a 302. Unless someone gave you a complete running engine and transmission and did the swap for you. But even then, the same would be true for a 302 swap.

because in most places, like new york, they want 800 for a good running 302.

your lucky if you find anything worth while for under 500. (where i live)

a good running 350 with the trans is 250 for a complete package. even the lt1's

in my case i already had the drivetrain. but if you had both engines and trans laying side by side. a ford would be cheaper to put in than a chevy.

it just depends on preference.

other than that i dont know.

thanks for the advice i understand but id rather put the ford in the ford lol ive got a transmission for both now picked on up one from my grandfather and the 350 from a friend im not swaping anything till finances are set aka constant so i have just in case money and some for parts up here in canada 350s are almost dime a dozen its finding the drive line with it thats a pain in the arse lol but so far everything is working out

By "driveline" you must mean the transmission, as you can use any driveshaft and rearend you choose here. Combination U joints are your best-est friend.
