1986 ranger 2.9l new problem i was trying to get the check engine light to flash by jumping a wire from the plug to the single wire and after i did that no engine light came on. so i tryed to start the motor and nothing. i have power to everything and if i jump the starter relay it runs. im not getting a signal to the starter relay anymore. im not sure if i fried something i checked all the fuses under the dash on the driverside but they were all good.i also have power to the ignition key. any clue what a did now? need help any suggestions??

Can you hear your fuel pump prime? If you have fuel pump, that means the computer is working since it controls it. Need to check the neutral safety stuff, if something is not right with a switch (auto manual?), you won't have any signal to the relay. This is probably where I would start first.

its a automatic and yes the fuel pump is priming everything looks good
