Goodmorning people , this 93 ranger is giving me some trouble , this morning I checked my truck and it was okay . So I turned on the truck And it did it well , now when I went into first gear it wasn’t letting me , you could hear like metal scratching , I tried reverse and it wasn’t letting me (same sounds) , I turned it off and it didn’t wanna turn on anymore , I turned the key to the switch and it seemed like it just died . Any ideas ?

Is this a manual or automatic? What do you mean by when you say "this morning I checked my truck and it was ok".... What are you checking? Have you had recent repairs done to the transmission or engine? Something is not moving like it should so we need some more info.... 93 ranger is pretty vague info....

Sorry , so it’s Manual trans , I bought it recently . So I been driving it for almost two weeks , I have not had any problems of any sort with the truck , nor transmission , it runs perfect , and it turned on perfect. I’m not sure if the past owner did anything to the truck . I recently changed the fuel pump this past Sunday , didn’t give me not a single problem , yesterday I was fixing brake lights didn’t give me a problem and it still drove home last night , now this morning I was just checking the engine just cause , checking the oil and antifreeze . But other than that it didn’t have any problem whatsoever

Possibly a fuse ? Not really sure I just replaced two burned out fuses and added one to the outside fuse box

So I turned it on , didn’t wanna catch a gear , the stick didn’t seem to fall into the gear , but you could just hear like scratching metal , I turned it off and didn’t wanna turn on anymore . Like if it had no battery . At all completely dead ,

These things have a hydraulic clutch... have you checked the fluid level in the clutch master?

The also have a clutch switch that won't allow the vehicle to start if the clutch is depressed fully.

If I'm following what you're saying... all this seems to be related to the clutch.

Thank you ! I will sort that out . But if the clutch is having a misfire , that wouldn’t let that turn the truck on ?

Maybe you should define "turn ON"

Do you mean crank?

Do you mean start?

What I'm saying is.... if the clutch switch is not working properly... the engine will NOT crank with the ignition key.

Lol you’re right I’m really sorry , it’s my first Project truck , and it does not crank nor start.

Sounds like the starter puked....or bad battery connection...or flywheels is backing off

OK... so yes... bad switch or wiring on the clutch... no crank or no start. Now I need to know if when you turn the key to the run position... do the warning lights on the dash illuminate and say the radio work or wipers turn on?

You also stated it wouldn't go into gear while running. Again... sounds like a clutch issue. But not the fault of the clutch start switch... but perhaps low on fluid causing the clutch not disengaging the engine and trans and causing the grinding while trying to select a gear.

Let me ask... there isn't something under the clutch pedal not allowing full pedal travel is there?

Yeah It turned on once and heard all that scratching , so I thought let me turn it off . Once I did it . It didn’t crank or start , and no lights came on . It looked like If someone pulled the battery out . Nothing turned on . No lights at all in the dash and there wasn’t anything behind the clutch pedal . It was working fine ,
